Have you ever questioned yourself where to swim in Rostock? Probably you’ve discovered the natatorium “Neptun” or the Baltic Sea but latter can be a chilly experience especially in the wintertime. For this and typically rainy coast weather the indoor swimming pool in Gehlsdorf is a good option to chill and relax.
The pool is 27 yards (25 meters) long and is usually divided into 4 lanes whereas one area is used by the slowly “floaters” who like talking while swimming. But don’t worry, the other lanes give enough space to crawl your laps. After the workout you can regenerate your muscles in the warm baby pool or in the sauna located in the basement. The location operated by WIRO has 3 different types of saunas: a Finnish sauna (over 90 degrees), a steam -and a herbal sauna with nice flavours from European fauna. Every full hour the staff is preparing a sauna infusion which is very powerful. So be familiarised to it if you choose to walk through the door. The new built outdoor area with a big sun deck and nice view on Rostock’s city centre (across the Warnow) will complete the relaxing day. Pool hours are from Monday to Sunday and are useable for everybody, unlike the “Neptun” natatorium where lanes are mostly booked by clubs. Before your visit you may check their occupancy schedule (picture at the bottom) to prevent aqua courses.
